OPCC Reliability Trial 2021
Due to Covid restrictions, the 2021 Reliability Ride will be held virtually on Zwift and you’re invited!
Sunday 7 February 2021. Depart 9.30am, be in position by 9am for chat and banter!
London PRL Half, 43.5 miles.
How to join
- Watch the video and leave your Zwift name in the comments section below the video.
- Alternatively, follow ‘Julian Hutchings OPCC’ on Zwift and we’ll find you that way.
It will not be a ‘stay together’ ride. Instead, there will be 3 ride leaders riding at different paces, so you can ride at the pace that suits you.
The ‘fast’ pace will be at about 3 w/kg, led by Dave Churchill.
The ‘medium’ pace will be about 2.5 w/kg, led by Andy Green.
The ‘social’ pace will be about 2 w/kg, led by Michael Fowler.
The ride leaders can be identified by their name when you see them on Zwift. They will also be at the front of their pace line. Please do not go past the ride leader; if you think the pace is not fast enough for you, join a faster group.
There will be sweepers at the back of the groups who will pace riders back to the group; on an Old Portlians ride, no-one gets left behind!
If you are new to Zwift and have not joined a group ride before, follow these instructions:
- Ensure that you have downloaded the Zwift Companion App to your phone.
- Open the Companion App and accept the invitation which you will see.
- Be on Zwift well before 9.30 on 7 February 2021. About 5 minutes before 9.30, you will see ‘Join Group Ride?’ Click on this and you should be ready to go. If this is your first group ride, be in position early so any problems can be sorted out.
Group rides cannot be organised more than 1 week in advance, so you will not receive your invitation before 1 February 2021.
There is a maximum of 100 riders that can join a group ride. If the maximum is exceeded, don’t worry – a second ride will be organised.
This will be an exclusive ride – that means the only riders you will see on the course will be riders on this reliability.
Riding the full route
Please note that you do not have to ride the full route if you do not want to. You can stop any time you want to!
There is no fee for joining this ride. However, if you would like to make a donation to charity, we are supporting The Vine Food Bank which is in Croydon, UK.
An optional £5 (or more, or less) donation can be made here:
To receive your 2021 OPCC Reliability Trial certificate, we need you to register your details and your estimated W/kg BEFORE the event using the registration button on top of the page.
After the event, you need to register your actual W/kg that you achieved during your ride using the registration botton on top of this page. This registration will be open until midnight 8 February 2021.
We will send your certificate via email.
See you all on 7 February 2021
Have a Good Ride!
